Since CurrentC blocked NFC technology at the terminal, it would be funny if Apple and Google blocked CurrentC from their app stores.

It would be funny for about a day, then you'd realize that the new Kings (Apple/Google) are being bad platform owners. They do enough of the blocking apps game on the sharecroppers.

With that said, CurrentC should go away but it isn't too bad to have some competition right now as this is such a huge change for the US finally. Paying from your phone will be the norm in 1-2 years and it will seem strange before that. We are finally joining the rest of the world, Finland has been doing it since the 90's. Whoever wins the riches should have to work for it a bit. I just hope it is the consumer friendly version that wins out.

I actually don't mind CurrentC on the playing field; I just don't agree with their terms to block all NFC transactions. I would like to see all of the payment methods play out; CurrentC may even offer something of value that Google and Apples products don't although that remains to be seen right now.

I don't think there's any point to this. It's going to fail on its own, why give them a place to point fingers?

Isn’t CurrentC a “physical-only” payment system, i.e. not supported for online transactions?

You're correct, but like Jeremy said, they have mobile apps in both the Apple [1] and Google [2] Store. Funny enough, they both have over 2000 ratings at 1 star.

Yes, but they need to have their payment apps on the devices to make those physical transactions.
