Before this, I worked for McKinsey & Company…" he paused to gauge my reaction, “which is one of the top business consulting firms in the world.” I wonder how he would have reacted to my utterly uninterested facial expression. Nothing of that is of any interest when trying to asses his value as a person or if his idea/company is good or not.

I honestly say "I've never heard of <institution>" - the reactions are great :)
