Is the goal of statistically equal outcomes (as distinguished from equal treatment) so pressing that people should be forced to make undesirable tradeoffs? I'm curious what your underlying ethical/political principle is here.

If leave for taking care of your kids is "unwanted", you should not be having kids. That counts for both parents.

I can understand the tradeoff can be undesirable, but the tradeoff ought be between wanted money and wanted leave.
