Kotlin have features like null safety, better functional programming, better coroutines, advanced sealed classe. Java virtual threads is still not ready and development was very slow. Blame oracle for being too complacent.

it has been getting better. Records and lambdas cut down on a lot.

still seems too verbose though even though it is my preferred language
