It is a great study. But naming it "world’s most popular" by conducting in 24 countries definitely not at the level of "world's" level.

What is 'american cousine'? Did they ask if people like MC Donald's or how can I imagine that?

Yeah, outside of fast food and america-style pizza, hot dogs, and so, I don't think anybody in the world has some concept of "american cousine".

It's not like other countries know or care about things like "biscuits and gravy" or "macaroni and cheese" and other US recipes, aside from a very small percentage of people. Nothing like people the world over know about Italian or French or Chinese or Thai or Mexican, etc food.

Maybe the best known parts are Louisiana or cajun cuisine, and Tex-Mex. So basically the US continues the big tradition of the Anglosaxons in the UK: it needed some major outside influence to make a food of any worth.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. Pretty sure there is no concept for swiss cuisine, yet trough small contributions like cheese and chocolate it's still kinda in people minds.

Making already popular things more fatty can be a own Cousine too :)

There was a Swiss restaurant in London which was a favourite of mine.

If someone asked me “what is American Cousine?” I would say, a female cousin from America.

“Cousine” - is french for female cousin.

If someone asked me “what is American cuisine?” I would say, pretty much any food item super-sized!!
