The Cost of Traditional Masculinity (psychologytoday.com)

Utterly garbage article. The author can't even begin to define "traditional masculinity" but apparently desires to help "deprogram" victims as if it's some kind of death cult. Author hasn't the foggiest idea what masculinity entails in the first place, and who can blame her, since she is, after all, a woman? Author is pushing an agenda of psychobabble, rather than an authentic dialogue about the differences between men and women, and why those are advantages to the human race that should be celebrated by both sexes.

> > "Men often feel pressure to conform to traditional masculinity at the cost of their own emotional health."

It's not pressure per se but the fact that rationally one would imagine that although it's hard to do if you manage to do it then it would be a superior experience vis-a-vis not trying and thus saving energy and mental health.

It's a bet where not only money are on the line but also energy and mental health in order to achieve a superior experience.

To me also most of the unhappiness in the male ranks is simply because men were never made to live this long, the fact that men live almost as much as women and the mortality is about the same is unheard of.

A quick turnover of men is a synonym with a healthy and dynamic society.

In this situation described by the author, it's simply a matter of priorities: job satisfaction vs. avoiding divorce. It's unclear what "traditional masculinity" has to do with this.

The comments on this appear to be making the point for the author despite their best efforts to the contrary.
