I really hope that the person looks at the work done by GiveWell - https://www.givewell.org/ and that they focus on cost-effectiveness of their donations (the amount of good they can do per $1 donated) as the primary dimension worth caring about.

We have more philanthropy than anytime in history yet the income gap has gotten worse, homeless worse, drug addiction worse. Money can't solve these problems. Only a robust rule of law and a robust middle class can.

Building django as open source is also quite charitable.
