By your definition the entire board of directors is irrelevant since they don't own any part of the business verticals directly like the CEO, CTO, etc. Should they be removed too?
This is a non sequitur if ever I've seen one. The board of directors has the specific ability to fire the leadership of the company, that's where they get their influence and power.
