Direct war is made complex by China's nuclear arsenal yet might be unavoidable in the long run but as of now all the diplomatic tools available should be used to contain them.
The way things are going right now is the US and Taiwan taking provocative actions to disturb the consensus and then acting like China is the aggressor when they respond.
