Google essentially killed http://www.sparkby.com (Like it killed Gizmo5 in the past: http://www.google.com/gizmo5/ - initially it was "temporary", but then became permanent).

Why does Google do that? Why not allow it to grow and gradually integrate refined pieces of technology into larger project [Google Product Search]?

You know that "Call phone" link in your gmail, and when you answer a phone call inside your gmail, that's Gizmo5.

What's the replacement for SparkBuy?

I want to buy an inexpensive laptop with 80+ GB SSD and 4+ GB RAM. Where do I go to find that?

---

Edit: thanks to sliverstorm for suggesting newegg.com It's seems to be a good replacement to SparkBuy (unlike Google Products Search).

NewEgg even looks somewhat similar to SpartBuy interface.

The replacement for SparkBuy is clearly going to be Google Product Search's next major iteration.

Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of our lives... well, at least for a few years.

They're likely reviewing and QAing it and then going to integrate some form of it into Google Products/Google Shopper.

So when do you think Google Product Search team would deliver similar features?

I'd say in a couple of years.

And that would not really work as good.

If you can wait a couple of months, the answer to that will be to visit our startup http://www.happybuy.com/

We're in the process of iterating to enhance our search to allow you to answer just those kinds of specifics :)

Happybuy is not a replacement for SparkBuy. The filters don't work as good.

Still you have a good change of outperform Google Product Search team. They shot themselves in a foot by closing working project (SparkBuy).

Yes agree, thats why I said to wait a few months. We currently have a broader range of products but we don't do search filtering as well - that will change.

Newegg?

Have you tried Decide.com?

I don't see how to search for SSD there.

How about ability to integrate Google Voice with Skype?

Gizmo5 did that.

GMail does NOT.

If Google were interested in integrating with Skype, then they would have bought Skype and not a company that merely uses the Skype API.

Do you imply that Google was interested in killing integration between Google Voice and Skype?

That's possible.

IIRC, if you're really interested in that, you can munge up a bridge w/ Asterisk. Not sure if anyone's SAASing it anymore, though.
