		I want to pay for a Google account for a while, to make use of storage for photo sharing. I want to pay only for a little while, and want to know that others haven't had issues moving back to a free plan after having a paid account for a while.

If you can, set up an entirely different account. Way too many things can go wrong with Google accounts and it’s impossible to get a support request.
