80,8443 not open on the external IP are they? Hopefully only internal unless you're OK with that.

Has anyone with this modem in the wild actually confirmed this update was pushed to them and if so is ssh listening on their public IP? So far in the article comments (haven't looked thru HN comments yet), those having this modem have verified that ssh is not listening.

I haven't tried the Spectrum TV streaming service. I'm recently on the one month DTVN trial, and I've actually been quite happy with the mix of channels offered by DirecTV Now, whilst no DVR, and half way decent on demand (although not even close to the on demand provided by the corresponding individual channel TVEverywhere app). It offers ESPN1/2, all the Viacom channels, a good news lineup, OK locals (depending on your region) and a pretty good lineup for the younger kids (Disney Jr, Nick Jr etc), plus essentials like AMC, AE, TNT, et al, all on their entry level $35 plan. The quality of picture and streaming consistency has been excellent on the Roku 3 app, and haven't noticed any buffering problems aside from the normal few seconds when you load a channel. You can access the app away from home (excepting locals if out of region), and you can use DirecTV Now as authentication for any TVEverywhere channel app for which is included in your plan. HBO (or Cinemax) is $5/mo, and you get access to HBO Go with that. I don't have any affiliation with DirecTV Now, I just think it's gotten kind of a bad wrap with the likely premature rollout of the service where most everyone complained of near useless functionality and constant buffering etc. I just haven't seen any of that. Yes there is no DVR, and the UI leaves a lot to be desired and lacks polish, but I think it's the best bang for your buck for a TV service for the entire family, where everyone gets most of what they want, for a very competitive price point.

Do these general Github outages affect GH Pages as well, or is that service portion segmented to some degree?

Pages are static sites served from separate infra from the main github.com from what I've heard, so you should be fine in almost all cases. I've never had one go down unless I pushed a dud build.

When will the Windows build be available again?

In about 6 hours.

Didn't realize Linux supported LPAR?

LPARs are implemented on hardware/microcode level (some older implementations even involve actual physical switches in the CPU and IO buses for partitioning the system), so OS does not have to even know about it.

The main feature of virtualization on zArchitecture are not LPARs, but the fact that that it meets the Popek and Goldberg virtualization requirements perfectly and thus there are no artificial limits on how deep you can nest the hypervisors. In fact even the process in z/OS can almost behave as if it was running directly on hardware.

They are? Haven't they been pushing Skype for Business pretty hard, considering also that they have supplanted Communicator/Lync with it as well?

VM images are common. vmdk, qcow, etc. Check out Bitnami and the variety of different appliances/images they offer for most of the apps/services that they offer. That should help in figuring out how to package it up...

These kind of generalizations are entirely humorous. Whether remote or on-site works better for someone is entirely situational, and mostly depends on the personality/disposition of the person. For many many people, remote just doesn't work for them for many reasons, and on-site is where they may thrive. Ridiculousness.
