I sold my MBPro 2016 and got back to the early 2015 version. Also, i own Lenovo X1 Yoga (with touch display). So i have two laptops that i really love to use. If apple keeps producing crap the Lenovo way will probably be my way also. For now the MBpro 2015 is my work horse though

Swede here. I had no idea this existed. I know it is allowed to take a leave for studying but not for starting a company. So i learned something! Anyway, i don't think this is such a big risk here in Sweden because very few take the opportunity for doing stuff like that. Running your company i generally frowned upon in many areas still here.

So who runs the companies that everybody works for now?

I don't know which part of Sweden you live in, but in Stockholm it's definitely not frowned upon running your own businesss.

+1 for this. I read it every 5 years or so

If only i wasn't too lazy I'd buy a hat just to take it for the author.

Depends on where in Sweden. Salaries in Stockholm are higher than the rest. I live in southern sweden, entry level is just over 30'SEK (USD4000), senior over 40' (USD5000). Varies from company to company and by industry etc. But around that ballpark generally

Just to clarify: this refers to monthly salaries. Salaries in Sweden are generally discussed in terms of monthly compensation. From my experience it's yearly in the US.

Interesting. Those numbers are not that different from Prague (my city). I expected much higher salaries in Sweden.

4k-5k euro net monthly also seems to be in the ballpark for senior dev contracting rates in Warsaw.

How much is left after taxes and other obligatory payments to the state?
