I'm sorry but you are incorrect. VS needs admin rights to install into Program Files, registry updates and GAC install, etc. Otherwise the apps a developer builds are run in in their own process and unless there are special circumstances, should not need admin privs; VS should never be run as admin apart from those special circumstances.

What about tools like Docker or VirtualBox? Every time those high-frequency release software are updated, you need to request sudo using the audit tool or request for IT to update?

I can't even imagine writing a kernel hardware driver in a corporate setup if they at subjecting development environments to strict lockdown.

Oh... One last thing, there is nothing better for a child than a little brother or sister; so get to work. 😊

Talk to him a lot and ask questions with follow up why, where, when, etc. Also the more you expose him to, the more he learns, take him yo see a real train, a real truck, etc and explain what it is. Most importantly show love and give them fun. I love playing sports with my boys or just wrestling around. Every sat and sun we go for a 1 - 2 hr trip on a red wagon in the park, they throw sticks, rocks, etc. KISS

likewise!

We are buying two PROs the minute they come out. They have expandable memory slots and the beauty of having a nice tablet and a full blown laptop is great. My wife can't wait for it to come out.

although... the Surface does allow for extending the memory using either: "microSD, microSDHC, or microSDXC memory card". Reference: http://www.microsoft.com/Surface/en-US/support/surface-with-...

My mistake, I am interesting in purchasing the Pro. On the Pro spec sheet (http://www.microsoft.com/Surface/en-US/surface-with-windows-...), it links to this storage page (http://microsoft.com/surface/storage) and so I'm lead to believe that this is the storage provided to you. Thanks for bringing this up!

Oldie but i still laugh every time I read it. http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=macs_cant

That. was. awesome.

I see it as an over reaction with people spreading bad news like the Mayans are changing world ending dates. Now everyone agrees that its popular to talk about how bad Windows 8 is and what the next End of World date is, but those people have not experienced at least one of those and more likely neither. Windows RT is store apps and Pro is store apps plus traditional apps. Naysayers... pffst! I'll stick to my nice Windows 8 Pro install because its pretty bad ass!

I second this, Nokia Maps is awesome and the many times I used it, it has not let me down and the experience was good. Also I've noticed that my Lumia can very quickly get a GPS signal vs iPhone and some Android phones I've used; this is very useful when you need a shortcut.
